This 4-day Uganda tour visits Murchison Falls National Park, one of Uganda’s oldest wildlife reserves. Murchison is considered a premier safari destination in the country. The Victoria Nile flows through the park, plunging through a narrow gorge to form the remarkable Murchison Falls, the park’s namesake.
Also called Kabalega Falls, Murchison Falls descends about 45m into the river after a series of rapids. Below the cascading falls, the mighty Nile expands into a wide, calm river flowing into Lake Albert. Murchison Falls National Park offers diverse experiences – you’ll encounter African wilderness, savannah, forest, wildlife, birds, primates, and the Nile River.
Cost Of 4 Days Murchison Falls National Park Safari
The average cost of a 4‑day safari that includes Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, two game drives, a Victoria Nile boat cruise and the hike to the falls is roughly US $1,400–1,600 per person for a mid‑range private tour with two travellers. Several operators quote $1,419–1,568 pp for this package, while a more economical lodge circuit starts at about $1,100 pp when two people share and drops to ≈ $1,050–1,200 pp for groups of four to six because vehicle and guide costs are split. Budget deals advertised as “affordable” begin around $820 pp but usually involve simpler camps and exclude extras such as Budongo chimp trekking. Luxury lodge options featuring Nile Safari Lodge or Chobe Safari Lodge typically start at $1,900–2,300 pp.
These prices already cover park entry, rhino‑tracking fees, accommodation on full board, a 4×4 with driver‑guide, the boat cruise and all scheduled game drives; they do not include international flights, visas, drinks, tips or any optional balloon flights or fishing excursions.
The park hosts more Rothschild Giraffes than anywhere else in Africa. You’ll find Buffaloes, Elephants, and other wildlife such as Baboons, Monkeys, Leopards, and Lions. Antelopes like Hartebeest, Bushbucks, Uganda kob, Waterbucks, and Warthogs are common. Along the Nile, you’ll observe massive Nile Crocodiles and numerous Hippos.
Murchison Falls Park is renowned as one of Africa’s top birding locations, with 451 recorded species including Storks, Herons, Flycatchers, Sandpipers, Bustards, Hornbills, Barbets, Kingfishers, Bee-eaters, Weavers, and finches.
Day 1: We drive northwest to Murchison Falls National Park, 5 hours from Kampala via Masindi.
