S25/03/2024Rasping Sounds of Leopards We had a four-day safari staying at the Sambiya safari lodge in Murchison Falls National Park. January is always one of the best times to travel there, we had great views of wildlife and an amazing boat cruise to the bottom of the falls. The hike to the Top of the falls offers stunning views of the falls at every turn you take. At Sambiya Lodge, we were welcomed by a herd of buffaloes close to the parking area, and the rasping sounds of leopards in the night near our cottages. Sambiya River Lodge was refurbished by the new owners and it's looking nice. Even then, the dark threat of oil exploration loomed over the park. Nine years later, unfortunately, our worst fears have come true. The park is crisscrossed by highways with trucks driving on them and most drivers disregarding the speed limit. Unfortunately, the nature in Uganda is under tremendous pressure and unless there is some change in the mindset of the people, the future will not be rosy.VerifiedLucky tourist guide08/03/2024Murchison Falls national never disappoints at all , and hiking to the top of the water falls is one of the best experience Murchison Falls national park never disappoints at all and hiking to the top of the falls is one of the best experience everVerifiedKidega Ceaser05/02/2024Boat cruise to the falls and visit to top of falls..at Murchison falls national Park I enjoyed my trip to Murchison falls national Park last week with friends. We have seen and experienced wonderful things here, but unfortunately also very unpleasant ones. Starting with the good points: - Many different wild animals live together in the park and it is beautiful to see them in their natural habitat. For example, we saw elephants, giraffes, various birds, hippos, buffalos, monkeys, a leopard, kobs and other gazelle-like animals. - The park is large and sometimes you are all alone (without many other jeeps) looking at an animal. - In addition to a game drive, you can also take two boat trips. We visited the waterfalls. You will also encounter a lot of wildlife along the way. We thought it was definitely worth it. The cons: - The Chinese built a gigantic highway through the park. This does not quite fit with the appearance of the park. Moreover, it is remarkable that the road is not built around the park, but straight through it. - Digging is taking place in the park. And big too. You are not allowed to take photos of it, this is indicated on signs. All kinds of pipes are being laid and there are large machines. This also does not fit with a National Park. - We came across a beautiful snake along the way. We were allowed to take a photo of it. However, the guide chased the animal with a branch. The animal tried to hide under the tire of the car and did not want to get out so quickly. The guide apparently had no patience for the snake and drove over its tail. As a result, the snake had a serious wound on its back. We were shocked by this cruel form of animal abuse. We also said something about this, but we have to see it as 'an accident' and the snake would recover. We sincerely hope that he will. The poor animal didn’t hurt anyone. The guides know a lot about the 'big' life on the savannah, but little about the insects and reptiles. We expected more information and respect towards these species, especially from a Ranger. - Large parts of the park are set on fire. It is unclear to us why, but even in our lodge it was raining with black ash that fell on us. The burning smell can be smelled. I give two stars because the animals are fantastic, human actions in the park and towards some animal species deserve attention and improvement.VerifiedKhaleb F09/01/2024Breath Taking The views at the falls are just mind blowing. We had a couple of game drives where we saw a lot of animals including water bucks, giraffes, elephants, buffalos and lions. The 3 hour launch drive was also very refreshing and the views spectacular!!Verifiedfamilyis4ever06/01/2024Mighty Murchison Another excellent visit to the power of Murchison Falls. Do NOT leave Uganda without this experience! We took a boat ride that included spotting alligators, elephants, giraffes, and more. Then we drove to the top of the falls where you fully experience the might of the falls.
